Synthetic Turf Council (STC) recognizes SportsGrass project at Uniontown Lake High School as a "Field of Dreams" national finalist.

May 6, 2009 – When Lake High School and local turf company ForeverLawn broke ground on their new football field, they never imagined it would earn national fame. Their goal was to have the field renovations paid for entirely through community donations. This field would be available to the school and the community in all weather conditions year round. Last summer their goal was achieved, and Alumni Field became a reality. Earning the distinction as a "Real Field of Dreams" was just icing on the cake.

The Synthetic Turf Council (STC), a national professional organization that promotes high standards for the synthetic turf industry, named Lake High School a national "Real Field of Dreams" winner, and awarded the school a monetary prize. The STC called Lake's story, "an inspirational example of the power of community," and recognized the field project as "...an inspiration to athletes, students, parents and fans to dream big and to see the tremendous impact of a community that works together."

Prior to installing artificial turf, Lake High School’s natural turf field was often closed for maintenance, or unusable due to muddy conditions and inclement weather. Local sports turf company ForeverLawn partnered with the Lake Building Committee and the community to raise funds to make the new field a reality. Now, since the field’s August 2008 installation, more events, practices and activities have taken place on it than in the past seven years combined.

Lake High School selected ForeverLawn for the field project due to their superior product, but perhaps more importantly, because of their integrity and character. “We chose ForeverLawn for many reasons,” said Bruce Brown, athletics director at Lake High School. “But these guys are right here. They are a local company with a local installation team. So if we ever have problems or need help, they will be right here.
